PODCAST EP 028- ART - Curating the Custom Home

Art House

Today's Podcast topic of art in the custom home includes an exceptional guest.

Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon has worked in museums and art galleries across the globe, including the large 5-story-high contemporary art museum URBIS in Manchester, UK, and one of the most reputable galleries in the Middle East: The Third Line, Doha, Qatar. She also serves as an independent Art Consultant. She is also the current curator at The Orlando Museum of Art.

Coralie is a close friend of mine, so it is an extra special honor for me to share our conversation with all the listeners today.

Coralie brings her expertise in home art curation, which ranges from for some of the most prolific art collectors in Orlando and even around the world to single pieces of art for people just starting on a small budget.

So she has a wide breadth of understanding of what it means to have art in the home, and she will clue us into how we can enrich the custom home experience by having art in the house.

Stay tuned.

Here are key things to listen out for:

● The different types of collectors and their mission

● Why you should get artwork that you love

● Designated places and their matching art in home projects

Notable Quotes

● You need to look at art for your home as part of the portrait your house ends up being. When you build your dream home, you want it to be in your image. It is what you are portraying to the world.

● If you are only starting collecting now and collecting for your own home, it is essential that you like what you are buying because you will be living with it.

● I know about art conservation; we want to preserve those pieces for posterity. When people collect, they do not only collect for themselves; they also gather for their children.

● Go with something essential. Go with something you would not mind having on your wall over several years. Especially when it is a little more valuable piece, you cannot always change things around.

● When building a house, you do not want people to remember the walls; you want people to remember how it felt to be in the place.

● Your home is your personality; it is also what you offer to people who enter your home and how it makes them feel.
